New England Swim Camp

      What We Provide

  • One week program for swimmers ages 7-17 

  • Training on swim strokes, starts, and turns

  • Mental Skills and Nutrition education  

  • Dryland training and training techniques

  • Inter-squad meet 

  • Trip to the outdoor pool 

  • Overnight Campers have open water swim and traditional camp activities in the evening.

Swim Camp Coordinator  Lauren Dwyer

Lauren started her competitive swimming career at the age of nine years old and continued swimming through her Senior year at the University of Maine, Orono.   After spending the last 6 years in Massachusetts working in Campus Recreation at Springfield College and most recently at Boston University, Lauren moved back ‘home’ to Maine, where she serves as the Aquatics Director at the AYCC.  During her time in Massachusetts, Lauren added to her 13 years of coaching experience by serving as the Assistant Swim Coach for West Springfield High School, three seasons as the East Longmeadow Marlins Assistant Coach, one season as the Marlins Head Coach, one season as the Head Coach for the East Longmeadow High School Spartans, and one year as an Assistant Age Group practice coach for Charles River Aquatics.  Lauren is excited to continue her coaching career within the MMD community and give back to the sport she loves!

Guest Coaches

Colin has been involved in the world of swimming for over a decade as an athlete, coach, lessons instructor, lifeguard instructor, and more. He has helped develop numerous swim programs around the state and has worked with several swimming organizations such as The Michael Phelps Foundation, YMCA Swimming, USA Swimming, and Special Olympics of Maine Swimming. Colin is also a frequent Assistant Coach for the Mid Maine Dolphins.

Kate Roy

Kate built the swimming program at the University of New England where she was the head coach from 2004-2014. UNE swimmers achieved numerous accolades including All-New England and Academic All-American recognition. Coach Roy was named the 2006 New England Women's Swim Coach of the Year and the 2013-14 squad earned the Steve Looke Sportsmanship Team honor. Kate served on the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Committee and helped run the NCAA national championship 2010-2014. Prior to UNE, Kate coached the Blacksburg Sunfish/South West Aquatic Team (Blacksburg, VA) and the Simon's Rock Snappers (Great Barrington, MA). Originally from Lewiston, Maine, Kate is now the Director of Healthy Living Programs at the AYCC.

What Would You Like to Know?

Is Gear Provided?
No, athletes need to come with a swim cap, goggles and swim suite, If your Athlete doesn't have something please contact us.

Where Do I Drop My Day Camper Off?
Day Campers should be brought to the Alfond Youth and Community Center in Waterville, Maine. Once there they will be signed in and can be picked up after practice around 4:00 P.M.

Do Campers Swim Across McGrath Pond?
Each year, athletes are given the option to swim across McGrath Pond (one mile). However, this is weather dependent. 

Where Is Practice Held?
While overnight campers stay at Camp Tracy, practices are held at the Alfond Youth and Community Center in Waterville, Maine.
